Self Funded Surgery

In NSW, there is very limited publicly funded bariatric surgery. This is despite the evidence for this treatment as the most effective way to deliver significant and prolonged weight loss with associated health improvements. As private health insurance is not possible for everyone, self-funded surgery is becoming more common for bariatric procedures.

We are consistently discussing with our hospital partners and reviewing our prices to try deliver the most accessible cost for our patients. Currently we can offer a Laparoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomy, for a one night stay, at under $15000. This is inclusive of Medicare rebates, and terms and conditions apply.
The team at Northern Bariatrics can help with applications to the Australian Taxation Office for the early release of superannuation. We also have funding options through a third party. Please discuss this with the team at your initial consultation.

The Program

The Self-funded program runs for 12 months and includes:

  • Bariatric surgery
  • Hospital stay
  • Anaesthetist
  • Surgical assistant
  • Post op dietitian consults
  • Post op surgical consults

If this is something you are interested in, contact the team to book an
appointment. We offer telehealth or in person appointments.
